Therapeutic Riding

Hands, Hooves & Hope Ranch offers equine therapy and therapeutic riding programs, including:

  • Behavioral and Developmental Program ~ This program serves individuals with physical, mental, emotional and developmental disabilities including behavioral issues, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem ADD/ADHD, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorders, muscular dystrophy, down syndrome, cognitive disabilities, visual impairment, and more.

  • Hearing Impaired Program ~ This program is designed specifically for individuals ages three and older who are deaf or hard of hearing.

  • Foster Care Program ~ This program will assist children in foster care ages 18 months and older. We understand that children in foster care can feel like they have nothing to call their own or feel like they cannot find stable ground. We provide them with the security of routine and allow the horses to help us build a relationship with them. The horses allow us to show the children that we are a safe place that is judgment-free, which allows them to express their feelings.

Program sessions are offered on  Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 2pm-7:15pm, as well as, Saturdays from 8am-5pm.  Each program session is 30 minutes and may include: riding independently or with leaders or side walkers, feeding, grooming, or tacking up the horse, and groundwork that includes leading, lunging, long lining, and desensitization.

We offer only individual therapeutic sessions.  We do this because we believe in creating an individualized therapeutic plan for each student. We want every child and adult to know that they are our main priority. We are dedicated to helping them improve as a person. We don’t want for people to be grouped together as a statistic or be defined by a disability, or their past.  Each lesson is created with input from the participant, his or her family, and any therapists they see.

Program activities and riding skills are designed to meet each participant’s individualized goals and objectives. We believe that everyone should experience the benefits of horseback riding and have the chance to learn how to ride!

Before beginning lessons the student or his/her guardian will fill out a welcome packet, allowing us to have enough information to create the best possible individualized lesson plan.

If you cannot afford lessons, please ask us about our financial assistance program by emailing We believe that all children and adults are entitled to the benefits of therapeutic riding no matter their financial background. Click here to access our scholarship application.
